Mr. Taylor was a two year starting Offense and Defense Tackle for the Terriers football program. For his hard work on the gridiron, Ed was named “All-City,” “All-Conference,” “All-State”, “1st Team All Star Game,” and “Honorable Mention All-American.” Mr. Taylor was also a shot-putter on the Track & Field team, which gained him the distinction of “Best Male Athlete” in 1958. Memberships at HHS included: Lions Club, Saber Club, “H” Club, and Senior Class Play. Ed was offered two college scholarships to the University of Miami and the University of Texas, and he chose Texas. His collegiate career included Texas, the University of Tampa, the University of Houston, and as part of his ROTC commission—he played football at Fort Benning, Georgia. After a distinguished career in the military in Vietnam, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart, Mr. Taylor earned his Master’s Degree at the University of Houston. He worked in the school system in Houston, Texas until 1997, and is now an instructor at a Police Community College. Ed is married, with one child.
