Anton “Buddy" Peters played Tackle for the Hillsborough High School football team and also played on the basketball team. In is time at Hillsborough he was voted “Best Athlete” by his class, Student Council; “H” Club, Jolly Boys: VP of the JR Lions: VP, Sgt. At Arms. For his work on the Terriers football team Anton was awarded - All-Tampa Academic Football Team, All-City, All-Conference, All-State 1st team, All-Southern and Honorable Mention High School All-American. After graduating he played football at the University of Florida where he was a started for 3 years. After graduating from Florida he then played 1 year in the NFL for the Denver Broncos.
