Earl Garcia was an Assistant Coach at Hillsborough High School from 1977-1981 and again in 1992. He became Head Football Coach in 1993, has served in that role ever since, and is the winningest coach in Terrier history. As of 2015 his overall coaching record was 159-65. For a stint of 13 seasons, his record was 127-27, including a home record during that time of 60 wins and only 5 losses. Under Earl Garcia Hillsborough High School was the only team in Hillsborough County to go 10-0 five times in a nine year period. Throughout his tenor more than 100 Terriers have signed football scholarships. The Terriers have been Western Conference Champs 8 times and District Champs 9 times. Coach Garcia has been awarded the West Coast Officials Sportsmanship Award 3 times. Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1999.

Earl was instrumental in the construction of the new field house, which includes a state of the art weight room and is rated the best in Hillsborough County. Coach Garcia was one of the founding members of the Hillsborough High School Football Hall of Fame.

Coach Garcia is a proud Tampa native and is married to Gilda, an elementary school Principal in Hillsborough County.
