Dick Spoto was an outstanding halfback and single wing quarterback on undefeated Big Ten and state Champions of the early thirties. – Three year letterman halfback for the University of Tampa Spartans. Assistant coach in 1942 at Hillsborough producing championship team. – Served in the U.S. Air Force during World War 1. – Appointed head coach at Jefferson High School in 1945. – In 1947 The Dragons won City Championships in football, basketball and baseball. – Former Hillsborough County Supervisor of Physical Education and Athletics. – Was principal of Hillsborough High School. – National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Honoree and member of University of Tampa Hall of Fame.
